Collision Traps

Front Collision Traps

Following too closely reduces your ability to avoid a collision, so if someone is tailgating you don't speed up and cause a collision trap in front of you. It's better to gradually slow and let the tailgater pass your vehicle when it is safe to do so.

If you are in a situation where you have to brake hard to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of you. It's most important not to panic and be used to the type of brake system your vehicle is equipped with. If your car is equipped with anti-lock brakes press hard on the pedal and you should be able to steer and control your vehicle. If your vehicle doesn't have anti-lock brakes. Brake hard, but not so much that you go into a skid and possible loose control.
