Side Collision Traps (Continued)

Collision traps are especially dangerous at night. In this collision a tractor-trailer was turning across 3 lanes of traffic at night in a poorly lit area. Large trailers are more difficult to see when angled either away or toward traffic. The driver of the car most likely saw the truck turn, but didn't notice the trailer till it was too late. He tried to avoid collision by veering to the left and braking. The driver was most likely blocked by the green car as he attempted to go around tanker. The car skidded and hit the rear of the trailer. Had there been a space cushion to his left the collision may have been avoided.
