Collision Traps

Using Your Horn

If you are caught in a collision trap, you can sound your horn to avoid collisions. Use it using the following guidelines:

  • Don't honk because you are upset, angry or they made a mistake. Mistakes happen, you may upset their driving or they may become aggrevated or aggresive with you.
  • Flash your headlights to warn traffic ahead of you that can see the front of your car.
  • Don't honk at someone for driving too slow. They may be having problems with their car, lost or ill.
  • Try to get "eye contact" and don't honk at other times.
  • If a driver is attempting to turn in front of you hit your horn, but only enough to warn the driver.
