Psychological Effects of Alcohol

Alcohol and it's Effect on the Brain

Alcohol's effect on a person depends in part on his or her body size. Alcohol is absorbed in three different places First through the tissues of the mouth and throat, thent through the stomach wall, and next through the wall of the small intestine. Alcohol affects a person's liver, heart, stomach, and brain. The effects on the brain are both short-term and long-term. A given amount of alcohol does not affect everyone the same way. Alcohol is a depressant, which means that it slows the activity of the central nervous system, increasing reaction time, diminishing judgment, imparing motor control and cause a person to become sleepy.
