Examine the Big Picture

Scan the roadside. Look for cars and people that might enter the road by the time you reach them. Be particularly cautious near schools, parks, or anywhere children may be playing.  Children do not always follow safety rules around traffic and are unpredictable. Scan near and far. Turn your head to check your blind spots. Watch for potential hazards.
