Alcohol and
it's Effect on the Brain (Continued)
Many people feel stimulated when they start feeling the
effects of alcohol, but it is actually the depressive effects
that cause the feeling. The brain contains inhibitory centers
that ordinarily moderate a person's behavior. When alcohol
depresses activity of these centers, it removes some of
the barriers to loud and aggressive behavior. This
explains why drivers take unnecesary risks, drive too fast
or aggresively when under the influence of alcohol.
