If
You Become Stranded
Now's the time to
break out the survival kit, if you have one, and sit tight.
That is, unless you know where you are and are certain help
is close by. Set out reflective triangles, flares (even
better), or hang a bright cloth from your antenna. If you
have flares be sure and set them a safe distance from your
vehicle (one in front and one behind). Depending on the
amount of fuel, you can run the engine about 10 minutes
every hour. Many motorists have died when their exhaust
was blocked by snow and carbon monoxide entered their vehicle,
so be sure the exhaust pipe is clear when running the engine.
Obviously, use any clothing, blankets etc. to keep warm.
