Point of
Decision
Drivers are constantly
forced to make decisions about when to brake, turn, merge
etc. An example of this is the "point of decision".
A point of decision, when passing, is described in the Texas
Driver's Handbook as "driver of the passing vehicle
has entered the passing lane and is in the left rear zone
of the vehicle being passed. At this point the driver of
the passing vehicle has better visibility and has time to
reevaluate and make a decision whether to complete the pass
or abort it." The process for implementing this maneuver,
as well as other, are in the next section.
