It doesn't prevent them from being injured or killed by driver's driving too fast or not paying attention. Their life is in your hands when you pass them in a construction zone.

Construction signs are your best indicator for conditions ahead such as closed lanes, flagmen, detours and poor conditions. Sometimes barrels directing traffic around lane closures get hit, moved or blown over. It is extremely important to stay in the correct lane to avoid colliding with workers.
